Welcome
Clwyd and Conwy Rivers Trust was established in 2007 from an amalgamation of the existing Clwyd and Elwy Conservation Trust and the Conservation bodies representing the Conwy. The new Trust is to apply for Charitable Status later in 2007.

The Objectives of the Trust
• Promote awareness of environmental issues and best river management practice.
• Promote recreational and leisure enjoyment of rivers, lakes and wetlands.
• Undertake research and practical work to maintain, restore and enhance environmental habitats within the two catchments of the Clwyd and Conwy.

News Updates
1) Environment and Habitats Group - Introductory meeting.
A meeting of key parties already involved with aspects of environmental management on the two river catchments is to be held at Kinmel Manor Hotel, Abergele on the 12th July 2007 starting at 10:00am.

The objective is to seek understanding of the work already being undertaken by these groups and agencies and how they are presently addressing issues of impacts on the environment of the two river catchment areas.  The future aim is to develop a structured action plan for the Clwyd and Conwy Rivers Trust that will both integrate and expand the work already being pursued.

All aspects of Biodiversity, Conservation enhancement and Fisheries development will be incorporated into the programme of work.

2) Fisheries and Environmental Crimewatch. The aim is to establish a trained group of Fisheries and Environmental Crimewatch observers from the two catchments and then collect information on environmental crime occurring in the area.  This information will then be relayed to the Environment Agency through a designated information line for their attention and formal action.

3) Smolt v Fry Salmonid Stocking Programme. The objective is to determine the most appropriate methodology for the introduction of juvenile fish into the two river catchments in order to enhance adult returns.

4) Collection of Salmonid BroodstockTo develop an empiric system of managing the breeding resources for the two rivers systems, in conjunction with the Environment Agency.

5) Irish Connection A delegation from the Clwyd and Conwy Rivers Trust will be holding discussions with representatives of selected Irish River Fisheries, in order to develop formal linkage to jointly seek European Funding for key projects on the respective river systems.

6) Clwyd and Conwy Rivers Trust – Formal Launch – This will take place on Friday 7th September 2007 at Kinmel Manor Hotel starting 10-30am.  The President of the Rivers Trust - Lord Elis-Thomas will formally launch the Trust and will also welcome a number of key speakers from the principal conservation agencies along with delegates and honoured guests.

The Clwyd and Conwy Rivers Trust welcome your help and assistance in ensuring that we preserve and improve the unique landscape, habitats and ecology of the two catchments for the benefits of future generations.
